Troubleshooting for Diagnostic Devices

First steps to troubleshoot a diagnostic device that is not working as expected.

About this task

If a diagnostic device is not working as expected with Clinical, use these tests to start troubleshooting the problem.

Procedure

  1. Does MedicalDirector Maintenance recognise the device?
    1. In MedicalDirector Maintenance, click Database Tasks > MedicalDirector Clinical > Device List.
    2. Enter your password. Click OK.
    3. Select the device.
    4. Click View. If Version Installed is set to:
      • Not Installed, the device's software is not installed or configured in MedicalDirector Maintenance. Install, configure, and test the device's software.
      • Installed, compare the installed version and tested version of the device software. If the installed version is lower, consider updating the software. If the installed version is higher, this version is supported but has not been tested by MedicalDirector.
  2. Can the diagnostic device perform a test and record results externally to Clinical?
    • If it can't, contact the device's manufacturer or reseller for advice.
    • If it can, make a note of these details and contact MedicalDirector Customer Support:
      • Did Clinical or the device display any error messages?
      • If so, what was the error message?
      • What was happening when the error message was displayed?
      • What is the installed version of the device's software?
