Installing Clinical, Pracsoft, and MDref Updates Automatically

Updates to MedicalDirector Clinical, Pracsoft, and MDref must always be installed by Administrators. The updates can be installed automatically in a networked environment, without the Administrators needing to monitor the Installation Wizard or intervene directly. This can be done using one of these methods:

  • Launch the update on each computer in turn with the preferred parameter. Return later to check the results.
  • Initiate RDP sessions to each computer, then launch the update with the preferred parameter. Log in later to check the results.
  • Schedule the update to run under a logged-in Administrator user. (See Installing Updates Automatically with Windows Scheduler.) Check the results the following day.

The benefit of each method is that the Administrator does not have to wait for and acknowledge the usual Installation Wizard dialog windows - simply launch it and then check the results later.

Note:
If you run the installation from a network location, you may encounter an application failure alert generated by Microsoft Dot Net. To overcome this problem, you will need to download and install Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1, or alternatively run the installation from a local drive.
