Uploading Medications to My Health Record
There are two methods for uploading medications to the patient's My Health Record.
- During the prescribing process.
The Enter Dose window includes a check box for indicating whether the patient has granted consent to upload the prescribed medication to the My Health Record.
This check box is ticked by default, unless the patient has set their record privacy to 'non-advertised' via the My Health Record consumer portal (a check for this setting is made upon opening the patient's record in Clinical). If during the consultation the patient changes their mind, and grants consent to upload a given medication to their My Health Record, you can tick this check box now. Under such circumstances, patient consent must be granted per medication i.e. this check box will be un-ticked for subsequent medications until such a time as the patient logs onto the consumer portal and changes their record privacy.
Prescriptions approved for uploading to the My Health Record System in this manner are transferred automatically when you print the script.
- Via the Current Rx tab.
- The My Health Record Consent column on the Current RX tab indicates whether the
patient granted consent to add this item to their My Health Record record.
- If My Health Record has been enabled, and the patient has granted consent, this field will read 'To be sent'
- If My Health Record has been enabled, and the patient has not granted consent, this field will read 'Not to be sent'
- If My Health Record has not been enabled, this field will read 'Not enabled'.
Possible reasons can include;
- Practice not registered for eRx
- Provider declined to participate in My Health Record
- Internet was not available when the My Health Record check occurred
- Missing HPI-I, HPI-O, IHI
- Missing or invalid certificates.
- You can change a patient's consent choice by either:
- Right-clicking an item and then clicking the My Health Record Consent entry from the menu that appears, or
- Double-clicking the medication's My Health Record
Consent field.
A prompt appears allowing you to indicate if the patient agrees to that prescription item being sent to their My Health Record. Scripts approved for uploading to the My Health Record System in this manner are transferred automatically when you print the script.
