Electronic Prescribing
Patients can receive prescriptions electronically (eScripts).
If your practice uses electronic prescribing, Clinical generates electronic tokens and sends them to the patient via email or SMS. The pharmacist scans the token to retrieve the details of the prescription.
eScripts are prescribed in the same way as paper prescriptions, with a few extra details. These details are of interest with eScripts:
- In the Enter Dose window, when an item is marked as Script Owing (Medication already supplied), only paper tokens are permitted (no SMS or email). This prescription can't be sent electronically but must be printed.
- In the Prescription Review window, you can select the delivery method for the token. A suggested delivery method is preselected, based on information found in the patient's record, with priority going to SMS, then email, and then printed on paper.
