MedicalDirector Clinical was first released in Australia in October 1992. It began as a simple, but elegant, computerised DOS prescription writing software tool. Over many years it has grown into the very detailed and feature rich total clinical solution now offered. Clinical was first created by two doctors and has since expanded over time with the assistance and vital feedback of its thousands of users.

Clinical was first introduced to the Primary Care Physician (General Practitioner) market in Australia. From here, its use spread to all areas of the medical profession and all around the world. Clinical is now used by Specialist Practitioners of all types from Psychiatrists to Surgeons, and is the major clinical repository in Australian Aged Care Facilities. It is also used in a number of Hospital Out-Patient Departments and throughout smaller-sized regional Hospitals.
