Installing the SMTP Service

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) must be installed to have access to Backup Notification functionality.

About this task

The following instructions relate to Windows XP. The images and steps below will differ on other operating systems.

Procedure

Within Windows, select Start > Settings > Control Panel. The Windows Control Panel is displayed.
Double-click Add or Remove Programs. The Add or Remove Programs window is displayed.
Click Add/Remove Windows Components. The Windows Components Wizard appears.
Select Internet Information Services (IIS) > Delete. The Internet Information Services (IIS) window is displayed.
Select the SMTP Service. This will add the other required services. Click OK. You are returned to the Windows Components window.
Click Next. The Configuring Components window is displayed and the installation of the SMTP Service begins.
Click Finish when the installation is successful.
