This option allows you to nominate a specific drug to which the patient is allergic.

Checking is performed at two levels:
  • Trade Name - if a trade name is entered, allergy checking searches the brand of the medication. This is useful where patients are allergic to an excipient, colouring or flavouring present in one formulation of a drug, but not in others.
  • Generic Name - if a generic name is entered, then all products containing that generic drug appear.

As you type in a drug name, a list of names is generated. Double-click on a drug name from the list to select it.
