Immunisations

Record immunisations given to patients at your practice or administered elsewhere.

Procedure

  1. From the patient's Clinical window, select the Imm. tab.
  2. To add an immunisation record, either:
    • Click Add Item Button on the toolbar.
    • Press the F3 key.
    • Right-click in the list of immunisations (even if the list is empty) and select Record Encounter.
  3. In the Vaccination window, if the vaccine was administered elsewhere, set Vaccine given elsewhere or Vaccine administered overseas.
  4. If you don't want this immunisation uploaded to the AIR, unset Send to AIR.
  5. From the Vaccinator list, select who administered the vaccine. If you are adding the vaccination record for another vaccinator, from the Submit on behalf of list, select their name.
The provider number of the practitioner is used to transmit data to the AIR. The AIR notification payment is forwarded to the practitioner on whose behalf the immunisation was administered.
  6. From the Consent provided by list, select the person who gave consent for the vaccination. Set Vaccination declined if no consent was given.
  7. In the Date field, enter the date on which the immunisation was administered if not today.
  8. From the Vaccine Name list, select the name of the vaccine administered.
  9. From the Route of Administration list, select the route by which the vaccine was administered to the patient.
  10. From the Vaccine Type list, select the program under which the vaccine was administered.
  11. In the Sequence field, enter the vaccine's sequence number. The sequence can be a number up to 20. This field accepts numeric values only so it is not possible to enter a B for a birth vaccination. To record a birth vaccination, use Provider Digital Access (PRODA).
  12. In the Batch Number field, enter the vaccine's batch number if required. AIR does not require batch numbers but your practice can make them required by setting the Advanced Link Options. Batch numbers can contain only alphanumeric characters (no spaces or punctuation).
  13. If required, in the Comment field, add any relevant notes.
  14. If the patient is pregnant, ensure Antenatal is set. Antenatal is displayed only for patients who are not male and are aged 10-65 years; it is set automatically if an active pregnancy is recorded in the patient's clinical record.
  15. (Optional) Click Mark for recall to generate a recall notification if the patient needs to be recalled for another immunisation.
  16. Click Save.

Results

Details of the immunisation administered at your health service are uploaded to the AIR if Send to AIR is set.

What to do next

If the conditions were met, an Immunisation Handout will be printed automatically.

If you recorded immunisations while in Mobility mode, when you have reconnected to your practice network and uploaded the patient's data to your Clinical server, upload the immunisation records to the AIR using the Outstanding Immunisations module.
