Real Time Prescription Monitoring
If your site is integrated with eRx, Clinical can be configured so that whenever a monitored medicine is prescribed and the prescription is about to be saved, the information is validated by the state's real time prescription monitoring service against the National Data Exchange (NDE) using eRx.
Enable RTPM in Clinical
If Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) is enabled, when you prescribe medication, Clinical contacts the RTPM service via eRx and RTPM returns a response.

Enable RTPM in Clinical

If Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) is enabled, when you prescribe medication, Clinical contacts the RTPM service via eRx and RTPM returns a response.

Before you begin

Your practice must be registered for MDExchange.
In the MDExchange settings, each user who wants to use RTPM must have a Participation of either Public or Private.
Electronic Prescribing must be enabled for each practitioner who wishes to participate in RTPM.

About this task

If the S8 or monitored S4 medication is not listed on the PBS, no RTPM alerts are displayed.

Procedure

From the Clinical main screen, select User > Setup Users.
Edit] each practitioner.
Set Participate in Real Time Prescription Monitoring.

Results

After you have enabled RTPM, alerts will be displayed to the practitioner whenever Schedule 8 drugs or any monitored Schedule 4 drugs are prescribed. Depending on the severity, the following color codes are displayed: red, amber and green. For more information, see RTPM Alerts
