Review Patient-Specific Data

Review your practice's patient data so you can identify and remove redundant or outdated data.

After migrating to MedicalDirector or merging patient databases, in each patient's Clinical window, review the patient data in these tabs. Update or delete redundant or outdated data as appropriate.

Current Rx tab

  • Delete or cease old medications that have lapsed or are no longer being taken.
  • Overdue medications are displayed in red. Delete or cease the medication.
  • Almost due medications are displayed in blue. Either:
    • Represcribe the medication.
    • Delete or cease the medication.
  • If the patient has no current medications, set Not taking any medications.

Past History tab

  • Delete any non-clinically significant items such as URTI.
  • Delete any duplicate items.
  • Adjust the active status of conditions if appropriate.
  • To prevent a history item from being included in summaries, select it and set Confidential. Other practitioners can still view the item in the patient's record. If the patient's record is exported, the confidential item is included in the exported data.
  • To include a history item in patient summaries (printouts), select it and set Summary.
  • If the patient's medical history is not known, set No significant past history.

Allergies tab

  • Record any allergies or adverse reactions, including the nature of the reaction, and its severity.
  • If the patient has no known allergies or adverse reactions, set No Known Allergies/Adverse Reactions.

Recalls/Reminders tab

  • Review the patient's current recall list.
  • Remove any recalls that have been completed, or update the recall to extend it.

Outstanding Actions (Clinical) tab

  • Review the patient's actions. Select any completed actions and click Mark as performed.

Correspondence tab

  • Note any recent correspondence.
  • Identify any clinically-significant correspondence that has been flagged as discuss or return urgently. If the patient has been informed of the result, select it and set notified.
