Configuring the Automatic Update Utility on the Server

Configure the server to automatically download and install updates to MDref content.

About this task

Automatic Update is installed with Clinical . You can use it to schedule the downloads and updates to MDref content at a convenient time. As updates become available, they are automatically downloaded to your server computer and installed. The download and installation will not interrupt users using Clinical on their workstations.

Procedure

On your server computer:

Right-click the MedicalDirector Automatic Update icon in your Windows System Tray. If it is not active, it is available via Start > All Programs > MedicalDirector > Automatic Update > Automatic Update > Preferences.
In the Preferences window, set Check for updates every…. Select the time interval for automatically checking for MDref updates, for example, Month.
Set Download and install when available, or set the time when you want to download and install the MDref updates.
In the Applications to Update section, for each application, set:
- Auto-check if you want to automatically check for updates.
- Auto-install to install any updates automatically.
Click Browse. Select a location on your server to save the downloaded files.

Tip:
The download location can't be a shared location such as \\My_Shared_Folder or a network resource.
Click OK.

To view a history of updates, right-click the MedicalDirector Automatic Update icon and select History.
