Pain Assessment

Document the patient's pain locations and record the severity of the pain from 0 to 10.

About this task

Record the patient's pain location and manage pain assessment in the Pain Assessment panel. Values can be collected and compared over time to assess how various treatments are working.

Procedure

To record a new pain assessment:
  1. In the Clinical window, select Assessment > Pain Assessment.

    This window lists all previous assessments if any.
  2. To record a new assessment for a patient, in the Pain Assessment window, click Add.
  3. If required, to calculate the amount of an alternative medication, click Dose Conv. For more information, refer to Dose Conversion Calculator.
  4. In the New Pain Record window, select the patient's pain location and record the severity on the Location tab.

    • Alternate between the figure's front and back views by clicking the Rotate iconRotate icon.
    • Amend the date if the assessment was made on a previous date.
  5. In the Description tab, enter the details of the pain.

  6. Click Save.

Results

A new pain record is saved and you are redirected to the Pain Assessment window. The current practitioner's name is recorded automatically.

What to do next

In the Pain Assessment window:
  • To edit an assessment, select the required assessment and click Edit.
  • To delete an assessment, select the required assessment and click Delete.
