Network Settings

Record proxy server settings so Clinical and Pracsoft components can use the proxy server to access the Internet.

About this task

Several components within MedicalDirector applications require an active Internet connection, including:

  • Automatic updates
  • eOrders for pathology and cytology requests
  • MDExchange
  • Medicare Easyclaim
  • My Health Record

If you access the Internet via a proxy server, record the proxy server settings in the Network Settings window so they are available to any component that requires them. Consult your system administrator if you need assistance with this configuration.

If you do not record the proxy server settings in the Network Settings window, you will need to configure the proxy settings separately in different areas of Clinical and Pracsoft for each component that requires them. If your proxy server changes, you would need to update these settings multiple times.

Procedure

  1. On the desktop, double-click the MedicalDirector Maintenance icon Maintenance icon.
  2. In the MedicalDirector Maintenance window, select Maintenance Tasks > Common.
  3. Double-click Network Settings icon Network Settings.
  4. If this is the first time you have run the Network Settings utility during this Maintenance session, select a configuration and enter your username and password.
  5. In the Network Settings window, set Use custom proxy settings and enter the proxy server's details. Consult your system administrator if you require assistance.
  6. Click Test Connection to test the computer's connectivity.
  7. If the connection is successful, click OK.
