Managing Practitioner and User Records
Each user must be defined in MedicalDirector Clinical's user database.
User Database
The User Database is where practitioners and users can be added, edited and deleted, and access levels and restrictions can be defined as appropriate.
Adding, Editing, and Deleting Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners
Practitioner records and nurse practitioners records have more details than non-clinical user records.
Adding Practitioner Records
Add a practitioner record or nurse practitioner record to the user database.

Administration

- Installing, Modifying, or Uninstalling Clinical/

Adding Practitioner Records

Add a practitioner record or nurse practitioner record to the user database.

Procedure

Open the User Database.
Click Add Doctor or Add Nurse Practitioner. If there is no Add Doctor button, refer to Multi-User Licensing.
In the Add Doctor/Nurse Practitioner window, enter the user details.
- All details marked with a red asterisk must be completed:
  - The doctor's or nurse practitioner's name, address, prescriber number, provider number and qualifications are required legally because these details appear on prescriptions.
  - The provider number is required because it is used in Pathology/Radiology forms and referral letters.
  - The doctor's practice location.
- See Healthcare Identifiers Service for information on the HPI-I number.
- The AHPRA Registration/State Registration No. fields are optional. For more information, contact the Department of Health and Ageing in your state.
- To participate in My Health Record, set Participate in My Health Record and enter your details as you want them to appear within the My Health Record system.
These settings are optional:
- Electronic Prescribing is enabled by default and requires that you have registered for MDExchange to function.
- Real Time Prescription Monitoring.
- Electronic_Prescribing.
- Auto-Capitalise Name automatically capitalises the first letter of each word the user types. Many windows throughout Clinical that offer this functionality, including the Options tabs. Auto-Capitalise Name determines the default setting for all others.
- PKI Encryption enables the encrypting of e-mail correspondence sent from Letter Writer using HESA PKI Certificate encryption technology.
Click OK to add the new user to the database and create a password. See Setting and Changing Your Password.
Click Save.

Results

The practitioner record or nurse practitioner record is added to the user database.

What to do next

Consider configuring the user's permissions.

If you created a new nurse practitioner and you run Pracsoft in conjunction with Clinical, open Pracsoft and add the nurse practitioner to Pracsoft.
