Troubleshooting Problems when Registering for MDExchange

Fix problems that can occur when registering for MDExchange.

  • When registering for MDExchange, proxy server authentication will fail if:
    • Your server is behind a proxy server that requires authentication so a username and password are required to connect to MDExchange.
    • Your server has not been updated with the latest Microsoft Windows updates.

If proxy server authentication fails, the MDExchange Registration Wizard displays a View Connection Error link. Click this link to open the Registration Wizard Log. If the log file contains this error message, update Windows with Windows Update, then run the MDExchange Registration Wizard again:

The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.

Consult your systems administrator for assistance with this scenario.

  • MDExchange uses certificates that have a from date and to date. If the time on your practice server computer is incorrect, certificates downloaded from the online MDExchange Servers might not be valid. This could prevent your practice from registering with MDExchange, and sending or receiving messages. To resolve this issue, update the time on the server computer.
