Record clinical information in the Clinical window.
Clinical Data Tabs
The Clinical Window contains a series of tabs, with each representing a different aspect of a patient's clinical data and history.

Welcome to MedicalDirector Clinical, practice and clinical management software for general practice!
- Logging On and Logging Off
  You are prompted to log on automatically when you start MedicalDirector Clinical.
- Starting Clinical
  Start Clinical as you would any other Microsoft Windows application.
- Communications
  Record communications with patients, practices and with other medical professionals or healthcare providers in MedicalDirector Clinical.
- Clinical Window
  Record clinical information in the Clinical window.
  - Keyboard Shortcuts
    Use keyboard shortcuts to increase your efficiency.
  - Clinical Window Toolbars and Buttons
    Use the buttons and toolbars to access specific areas of a patient's clinical record.
  - Clinical Data Tabs
    The Clinical Window contains a series of tabs, with each representing a different aspect of a patient's clinical data and history.
    - Summary Tab
      The Summary tab displays an overview of the patient's Past History, Current Medications, Immunisations, Family History, Social History and Preventive Health data.
    - Current Rx Tab
      A patient's current, prescribed medications are listed on the Current Rx tab in the Clinical Window from which you can also prescribe and print prescriptions.
    - Progress Tab
      Use the Progress tab to record details of a patient's visit (referred to as Progress Notes), and view details of previous visits.
    - Past History Tab
      The Past History tab displays a summary of the patient's medical history.
    - Results Tab
      The Results tab records the Investigation Results for a patient and displays a list of tests that have been checked-in against that patient's name.
    - Letters Tab
      The Letters tab of the Clinical Window lists correspondence created using the Letter Writer, as well as correspondence received via MDExchange or sent by your laboratory along with your patient's investigations results. This can include CDA-formatted documents.
    - Documents Tab
      Use the Documents tab to import, store, and manage external documents and third-party files in patient medical records.
    - Holding File Tab
      Check for unactioned correspondence related to the patient from their file on the Holding File tab.
    - Old Scripts Tab
      The Old Scripts tab displays a list of all medications that have been prescribed for the current patient, both hand-written and printed prescriptions.
    - Immunisations Tab
      Use the Imm. tab to manage a patient's immunisations.
    - Cervical Screening Tab
      Review cervical screening tests and manage recalls.
    - Obstetric Tab
      The Obstetric tab displays any obstetric history and details of antenatal visits for each pregnancy.
    - Correspondence Tab
      The Correspondence tab of the Clinical Window displays a list of all patient documents.
    - MDExchange Tab
      The MDExchange tab displays Messages sent or awaiting transmission via MDExchange.
    - Surgical Tab
      Use the SAT tab to create and modify operations.
    - HealthLink Tab
      Use the HealthLink tab to manage HealthLink forms
    - Acupuncture Tab
      Record visits where acupuncture was performed.
      - Creating Acupuncture Records
        Record the acupuncture points for a patient, including the reason for treatment and its severity level.
      - Deleting Acupuncture Records
  - Recording and Managing Clinical Data
    The recording and management of most clinical data is performed via the Clinical window, and on a patient-to-patient basis.
  - Patients with Non-Entered Clinical Data
    View a list of active patients who have not been asked about their medical history, current medications or any allergies.
- Visit Timer
  The Visit Timer is activated automatically when you open a patient's record.
- Security
  MedicalDirector Clinical protects users data, clinical notes and other sensitive information by storing it in an encrypted format.

Acupuncture Tab

Record visits where acupuncture was performed.

From the Options > Clinical, either enable or disable acupuncture module. This module is optional.

Field	Description
Acupuncture Treatment Details	Displays the Acupuncture treatment details for each visit.
Condition treated at highlighted visit	This lists the conditions treated during the highlighted visit, along with a subjective rating severity at that visit.
Progress of highlighted condition	This list shows the date and severity rating for all visits relating to the highlighted condition, which allows for easy visualisation of the progress being made. Double-click an entry in this list to display a progress graph for that condition. For example, the graph below displays the progress of the patient's shoulder for the reason selected in the Condition Treated at Highlighted Visit field.

Navigate to acupuncture tab

Explain the Acupuncture function, from the above images with the numbered annotations:

A summary of all previous acupuncture consultations along with the acupuncture points used.
The new acupuncture record, which commences with the previous points listed. These can be edited, or new points added from the pick list shown in 3.
A pick list of all acupuncture points, using a variety of nomenclatures.
Allows reasons for the consultation to be listed and graded for each attendance, to assist practitioners to know if the selected points are helping to reduce the symptoms.
